One of Indonesia’s diving mecca’s, Bunaken in North Sulawesi is home to pristine protected coral reef, dramatic plunging wall dives and a myriad of fish and invertebrate life. Living Colours is a small friendly professional dive resort offering a relaxed and informal atmosphere, with a secluded location away from the public road and generators it guarantees an idyllic getaway to explore the wonders of the Bunaken National Marine Park.
There are nine spacious wooden Minahasa-style one-bedroom bungalows and two two-bedroom bungalow, each with their own balcony in beautiful tropical garden surroundings. All the bungalows are situated on a hill, and are only sixty steps from the beach, and enjoy lovely sea views over mangrove trees. They are all equipped with double or twin beds, mosquito nets, fan, hammocks and attached western bathroom with hot and cold water and furnished with bamboo, rattan and coconut furniture.
The open-air restaurant, offers a sea view, and serves delicious traditional Indonesian food. The menu consists mainly of sea food, chicken and vegetarian dishes with fresh local vegetables and tropical fruits. Chinese and Western dishes are also well represented. The meals are presented buffet-style in their clean, well-appointed modern kitchen. Their chef, Aldy, has a long history in North Sulawesi’s finest restaurants. He knows how to prepare the hottest local delicacies with dabu-dabu, the famous chili sauce. His other specialties include, smoked sail fish with chili mayonnaise and grilled prawns with a tasty sauce. Continental or English breakfast with fresh fruits, coffee, tea and juice can be enjoyed in while admiring the sunrise.
There is also a beach front bar, The Safety Stop Bar, so that between dives, snorkelling or sunbathing you can relax with a cold drink, play games or just chill out in the hammocks. In the evenings the Safety Stop Bar offers nice atmosphere with good tunes and a musical bartender.
The resort has 24 hour electricity and a Wi-Fi connection in the public areas.
Their dive crew consists of local skilled captains, divemasters with thousands of dives in the area, and European Padi instructors offering Padi dive courses from beginner to divemaster level. Living Colours operate 3 dive boats, daily departures from the resort are at approx. 08:30, 11:00, and 14:30 hrs for the 3rd dive. There is no maximum bottom time per dive. Lunch is served back at the resort between the 2nd and 3rd dives. Boat journey times are 2-30 minutes. It offers boat dives all around the 5 islands of the Bunaken National Marine Park, and the muck dives of Manado Bay, as well as shore dives from the resort on one of Bunaken’s top dive sites as its house reef.
