Pulau Weh Dive Resort is tucked away in a remote corner of Pulau Weh, about 45 minutes by road from the ferry terminal. It is a treasure of a place, set right on the beach in a quiet bay and overlook a couple of islands, there is a jungle behind the resort which gives it a truly remote feeling.
There are thirteen rooms, six of beachfront, with the rest arranged at the back of the complex in the middle of a garden. Each room is modern, spacious, and stylishly designed, with an outside bathroom and private walkway around the room, with a large terrace at the front, with big glass doors that give access to the room. The rooms are large, with tiled floors and bathrooms, aluminium sliding panels and frosted glass doors. They have a thatched roof and some wooden furniture. All rooms come with A/C and a fan hot water indoor shower, mini safe, day bed and coffee making facilities.
To one side of the resort is the main dining/reception area which is a large open area looking onto the beach with wooden beams and a big thatched roof. The kitchen is at the back of the dining room. It serves a blend of Indonesian and Western food, either buffet or al la carte, and there is always a good selection of fresh fruit and vegetables. By the kitchen is an area with water and tea and coffee making facilities.
The dives all take place in the Pulau Weh Marine Park which is surrounded by healthy and vibrant coral reefs, and its waters harbour a diverse mix of Indo-Pacific marine life.
These exposed, nutrient-rich waters attract ocean giants. Sunfish, manta rays and the largest of all fish, the whale shark. Thresher sharks have also been sighted by divers passing over deep volcanic channels, as has the extremely rare and elusive megamouth shark. The diving here offers something for all skill levels, with reef walls, deep and shallow shipwrecks, sloping house reefs, underwater hot springs and excellent drift dives.
